Ban lobbyists

Ban any senator of congressional person from taking any gifts from lobbyists. It’s time for the politicians to work for the people again and not big corporations

Thank you for sharing this! I hope it rises to the top of the discussion. The only way to eliminate corruption is to address it at its root—money in politics has long been a major issue and a tool for corporations to gain control!

I dont think that lobbyists should be banned. Its a form of free speech and a way to get different views heard. However, lobbyists being able to give donations in order to sway votes their way should definitely be illegal. Any form of free speech, whether we agree with it or not, is a cornerstone of our constitution and must be protected at all cost.

We probably need to go further than simply designing policy that bans lobbyists, since there is too much money chasing too many corrupt polititians’ pockets. The activity will simply go underground, and nothing will change except the visibility of it.

Since this is very closely rooted to practices similar to blackmail, bribery, collusion, obstruction, etc, then we might consider treating lobby groups and activities as criminal in nature, ensuring that the REAL pressure for political change comes from the American People and not from outside corporations and organizations who are attempting to manupulate our institutions, wealth, and infrastructures to benifit their own personal gains and agendas. Simply put, if a person or entity is attempting to subvert, halt, redirect, or in any way, manipulate the normal and expected operations or resource allocations of our Constitutional Republic for their own personal satisfaction, then said action should be considered criminal…period. Simply logical, right? Under this logic, Lobbying should be considered criminal, deserving of stiff prison terms, I would gather.

Lobbys are meant to be people representing other people. There are a few organizations for things like freedom, medical freedom, homeschooling, etc. That i support and am grateful when they collect signatures and take them to congressman. They can answer questions and make voices heard in a good way too. I understand the sentimate and the idea but like others said, the practice would likely just go underground.

Something needs to change but outright banning it isnt the answer.

Yes!!!

Please take a look at my policy suggestion:

This would be a first step toward all kinds of laws guarding our politicians against corruption. I’ve had my state rep actually knock on my door and talk to me. We can influence these people and run 50 different experiments on how to make offices that are corruption-proof. We just need to bring the power back to the states!

Make a law where every person that worked for the Federal Government including the military generals has a no compete clause that they could not lobby for contracts before they retired, and then once they retired worked for the same companies. Lloyd Austin is a perfect example of that and so is Trumps son in law.

Yes, exactly,I think they call that bribery.

There’s nothing wrong with informing but any pressuring, carrot or stick, ought to be illegal if it isn’t already.

We have so many good laws that simply stopped being enforced, years ago.

Lobbyists are nothing more than hired hands to bribe the reps to vote for bills that favor their big business employee! It’s nothing but bribery!:rage:
