Ban Hiding Ingredients from Consumers

Companies are not listing all ingredients in their products and are hiding ingredients in natural flavoring. This is a huge issue for people with allergies. It is discrimination that only people with the top 8 allergens are recognized. I have celiac disease and can not eat gluten. Yes, it is great that wheat is listed, but what about barley and rye? Companies can leave off ingredients like barley and rye. It should be our right to know exactly what kind of ingredients we are sticking in our bodies when we eat. This is not just a fight for celiac disease but for people with any kind of allergen. NO MORE HIDING INGREDIENTS!!!

Yes transparency on labels without confusing or misleading like natural or natural flavoring , fruit flavored, low-fat, fat free, no additives, low sugar, no trans fat, etc. food labels should be suitable for children to read and comprehend.

Another issue is **expiration dates * text dates; good until….

As consumers we rely on the companies to be honest about the products we’re purchasing, and shouldn’t have to be experts on reading labels before we understand what we’re putting inside and outside our bodies.

Food is meant to be nutritional, fuel for our bodies, so therefore anything that’s sold as food should be adding nutritional value to our bodies, unless it’s labeled as otherwise. The fact that there’s a health food section in grocery stores is alarming.

Agree! Not only ban hiding ingredients completely, but also ban using new terminology that is confusing or makes an ingredient sound healthy when it’s not. (Rapeseed oil). List ingredients so we don’t have to sit in the store aisles scouring the internet to know if it’s safe.

And also put the country of origin on the label.

Like 100% anything doesn’t mean 100%. You’re 100% beef isn’t always 100% beef. It’s just the beef that’s in it happens to be 100% beef. Everything else in it isn’t beef. They need to tell the truth

I agree with this 100% and they should have to use common names so instead of natural flavoring strawberry, or if it has bugs in it they need to name the bugs not some scientific name just call it bug or insect

Yes. Bill Gates is coating all of our fruits and vegetables with APEEL. Even organic! It is not labeled, cannot be washed off and the ingredients remain mysterious. It also makes produce look fresher but it is old, has impaired texture and flavor.

I just voted for your proposal. The term “natural Flavor” is a misnomer. According to The Environmental Working Group. Natural flavor additives start out with an ingredient derived from a plant or animal source then one or more of a group of 100 chemicals is added. Also any food containing GMO ingredients should be labelled clearly as such.
Thank you for the suggesting.

A recent event is what companies are doing to hide the sugar substitute Xylitol. They are marketing it as “Birch Sugar” instead. Why is this an issue? It’s extremely poisonous to dogs. Some products like peanut butter could contain this and be fed to a dog by a person that knows Xylitol is bad but no idea what “Birch Sugar” is. Once enough people start finding out that Birch Sugar is Xylitol, what’s stopping them from renaming the ingredient again to avoid people from not buying their product for what they choose to substitute sugar with? Shady stuff like this in product labeling def needs to be looked at; for our safety and the safty of our pets and children.

Some ingredients aren’t required to be included on labels for chicken nuggets for example if they’re flash fried in vegetable oil, no vegetable oil is on the label. For those with allergies or trying to stay away from seed oils, it is dangerous and deceitful.

Please consider voting for my proposal to ban the pharma industry from UNNECESSARILY adding lactose to medications and forcing patients to pay for an expensive dietary supplement to digest the lactose in their medications:

Ban unnecessary use of lactose in medications

If successful, this proposal will be a game-changer for millions of Americans suffering from lactose intolerance.
