Im not sure how to phrase this as Im not a lawyer or ever claim to be but hopefully I can make this coherent enough.
Put an end to “Drs. get to decide when to ALLOW women to undergo sterilization”
Im a 33 year old woman. Due to horrific PCOS and Endo I had to have my tubes removed due to rupture at 29 years old. I can not get pregnant naturally at this point. I also already have a 12 year old child. Even with ALL of these factors multiple Drs have REFUSED to allow me to undergo a partial hysterectomy (removal of my uterus only) in order to stop the debilitating periods that I have to undergo every 3-4 months.
It should not be a Drs “choice” on if they want to make someone sterile it should be the woman’s choice.
We have so many ban abortion or ban late term abortion conversations every single year but if people would just sit and think for 3 seconds they would realize many of those women would HAPPILY undergo voluntary sterilization if it was available.
Im not asking that it be paid for by the government or even insurance, Just that a Dr cant refuse for personal reasons such as “You never know you may want more kids someday.”
Im 33, iv had my child, I dont want more, I want to be free of this debilitating pain.
