Allow the dreamers a path to citizenship

The dreamers didn’t have a choice in coming here. They were typically children following their parents towards a dream of a better life. They made a life for themselves and grew up in this great country. They were told that they had a legal avenue of living in the only place they have ever really known. The daca program. They signed up for a policy that then targeted them for deportation. That isn’t the American way. Give them a path to citizenship that doesn’t deport them to a country they don’t know. We can take a hard stance on immigration while also being compassionate. I’ll leave with the quote on the bronze plaque at the bottom of the Statue of Liberty that we have forgotten:

“Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

You dropped your hood… always one. DACA are not illegal. They are in limbo pending status. They pay taxes. So they deserve to be given at least permanent residency. Wether it’s through get education or military service. Something . But they have been in limbo far too long

What?

I went and looked up exactly how DACA works.

What Is DACA

On June 15, 2012, the Secretary of Homeland Security announced that certain people who came to the United States as children and meet several guidelines may request consideration of deferred action for a period of 2 years, subject to renewal. They are also eligible to request work authorization. Deferred action is an exercise of prosecutorial discretion to defer removal action against an individual for a certain period of time. Deferred action does not provide lawful status.

On Aug. 30, 2022, DHS published the DACA Final Rule, with the intent to preserve and fortify the DACA policy. This rule, which puts into effect regulations at 8 CFR 236.21-236.25, rescinds and replaces the DACA guidance set forth in the 2012 Memorandum issued by Secretary Napolitano.

Restating Key Point:

Deferred action does not provide lawful status.

So contrary to your claim:

So I repeat:

If you are here illegally, you have to go.

You come one here a policy suggestion website to comment your opinion? Go to FB, IG or TikTok to be racist. This is a site to come up ideas and solutions. And deferred status still is not illegal… they have permits to work and SSNs. If you don’t have a solution take your hate elsewhere.

If this is going to be your attitude to people disagreeing with your ideas, you are not going to last on this website for very long.

Only one with attitude is you. I think your failing to see the point of this site. It’s a solutions site note a complain about every suggestion site just cause you’re bored. If your not part of a solution don’t be the problem.
