Pathway to Citizenship for Dreamers

The purpose of this policy proposal is to provide a clear and achievable pathway to citizenship for DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) recipients—commonly known as DREAMers—who have proven themselves to be responsible, tax-paying, and law-abiding contributors to the United States. This policy seeks to honor the United States’ history as a nation built by immigrants by streamlining the citizenship process for individuals who demonstrate their dedication to the country through their productive contributions.

Scope:

This policy applies to DREAMers who meet the following criteria:

  1. Are registered under DACA.

  2. Have a consistent tax-paying record.

  3. Have no criminal record.

  4. Demonstrate ongoing contributions to their communities, workplaces, or educational institutions.

The United States has a long history of benefiting from the contributions of immigrants. DACA recipients, who were brought to the U.S. as children, have grown up in this country and are integrated into its society, economy, and culture. Many DREAMers aspire to become citizens, and they have demonstrated a commitment to the nation through their positive actions and contributions. By streamlining the process to legal residency and ultimately citizenship, the U.S. acknowledges their valuable role and supports their continued growth as productive members of society.
