Vote for Senate Leader should be 1) Made in the new year, post last election 2) Open (NOT! secret) Ballot so Senators are held accountable

With the Senate today electing South Dakota Republican John Thune to Senate Leader, I propose:

  1. The vote should be taken in the new year, post last election, with the newly elected Senate.

My Question on this: WHY?!?!? Why is the leader elected under the phased out Senate vs the incoming Senate, who will be subject to his/her leadership? This makes no sense.

Consider this:
a. You have ousted Senators who have sour grapes and get to vote in opposition to the ones elected to replace them. The ones elected to replace them are then hamstrung. All in opposition to the most recent will of the people, who elected the new Senate.
b. The Senate is victim to the Good Ole Boy network. Cronies will elect cronies. In today’s very pertinent example, Florida Senator Rick Scott lost to Thune due to the Good Ole Boy network. The majority of MAGA political commentators and the likely (though it is unknown for sure) majority of MAGA voters wanted Scott. Had the vote been taken in the NEW Senate vs this old one, Scott may well have won.

PresidentTrump now has to face a year - and, due to the process of electing a Senate leader, perhaps indefinitely to his term - of a Senator who is a lukewarm MAGA supporter despite President Trump winning the popular vote. Where is the voice of the people? I predict obstacles ahead that would not have been there under Scott.

  1. Along these very same lines, I propose an open, voice count election vs a secret election of the Senate Leader. They work for us. Tell me a boss who doesn’t know what his employees are doing.
*There are other posts stating this second proposal. This particular proposal is singular in that I propose we enact both these measures, not just the one.
