Universal EMR for Healthcare

For many years now our government has unsuccessfully come up with a way to decrease cost of healthcare. I propose a universal EMR to cut cost instead of going the route of a one payor system. I work in healthcare and there is so much duplication of tests, labs etc because physicians do not receive records from previous doctors or specialists. One EMR would eliminate ALL of that problem and likely save millions of healthcare dollars. Many hospitals and clinics use a substandard EMR because the cost of efficient EMRs have skyrocketed. This makes it even more difficult to keep adequate patient records and ultimately increasing risk of overlooking important screening exams etc. I propose that the US and territories develop an universal electronic medical record for all healthcare including the Veterans Administration.
