The Child Defense Act: Ensuring Real Consequences for Child Abusers

Zero-Tolerance Sentencing:
Any individual convicted of child abuse, regardless of the type or level of abuse, faces a strict minimum sentence with no possibility of reduced time or probation.

No Plea Deals or Reduced Charges:
Eliminate any chance of plea bargaining in child abuse cases—abusers should face full accountability, with no chance of reducing charges or sentencing.

Lifetime Monitoring for ALL Offenders:
For anyone with a child abuse conviction, mandatory lifetime monitoring should be in place to track location and restrict access to vulnerable populations.

Automatic Sentencing of Life Without Parole for Sexual Abuse of a Child:
Any conviction of sexual abuse against a child results in an automatic sentence of life without parole, with no room for appeal, ensuring that child predators never reenter society.

Death Penalty Option for Abusers in Positions of Trust:
Implement the death penalty for child abusers who held positions of trust or authority over children, such as parents, teachers, coaches, foster parents, and clergy members, treating their breach of trust with the highest possible penalty.

Permanent Loss of All Civil Rights for Convicted Child Abusers:
Beyond incarceration, convicted child abusers lose all civil rights, including voting, public benefits, and any form of citizenship privileges, treating them as permanently unfit to participate in society.

Add open up child welfare and adoption records when the child turns 18 so that person can get the evidence he/she needs to go after their abusers while in State’s custody.
