Term limits must also be set for agency heads. FBI DOA DOE CIA etc.
Yes! Not only should these people not have as much power (and money) as they have, but they really need to step down and stop making decisions for us theyâre never going to see the consequences of. Theyâre all too old and corrupt. These fossils need to retire and spend time with their families instead of screwing us over.
Yes, i favor this. Something has to be done to prevent our representatives from becoming captured by interests besides their constituents.
Iâm actually opposed to the idea of term limits. Iâll take the likes or a Rand Paul or Thomas Massie for as long as they want to stay. The better way to weed out some of the corruption that occurs by the swamp dwellers would be to ban lobbying and super pacs if possible.
if they were all Pauls or Massies iâd agree. It seems to me however that the worst of the politicians are also the longest in office. Many are nearly dead, mysteriously millionaires. Time has given them the opportunity to build a grift machine that a 2 terms wouldnât allow, hopefully.
BTW, Ron Paul states in his book âLiberty Definedâ that he supports term limits and has voted in favor of it, but takes the view that it would never happen. WRT lobbying, he sees as a legitimate form of obtaining redress of grievances. He cites the examples lobbying done on behalf of 2A, right to life, sound money etc. Ideally, in his view, if government became smaller, the lobbying would reduce in proportion.
Thanks for your words.
Supreme Court Judges too. Jokesters are in their till death basically. No reason to be selected, not elected or ejected by the people
Term limits sounds fine, provided that we fix campaign finance laws, and the rest of DC, FIRST.
Cycling an endless stream of elected ânewbieâ Senators and House Reps through a âpermanentâ DC Administrative and Security State seems as foolish and counter-productive as John McCainâs failed attempts to limit executive compensation.
There is an âorder of operationsâ to righting this ship. I believe term limits to be down the list. Retiring Rand Paul to dump Chuck Schumer just means a new Schumer, with no Rand Paul.
Disagree. Completely.
Yes.
One of Obummerâs final acts was to issue mass promotions to his hires that Trump would have to pay, and he elevated many of them to a level where they cannot be fired. Absurd union rules exist in all government employment. Public unions are a joke. Arbitration is all that is needed for federal employment.
How come, please elaborate
I would also add that their retirement is based off of the average of the people in their state/district that they represent and they are required to show up and vote for 98% of the votes or forfeit their retirement. If I missed more than that of my job then I would be fired without benefitsâ, the same should hold true for them.
I agree 100% with the foundersâ notion that a lifetime appointment to SCOTUS creates the atmosphere required in a Judicial body designed to be an EQUAL check to a chief executive and a bicameral legislature. Itâs perfect. Leave it alone.
No one moaned like this when it was Dem-dominated over decades. This is the ebb and flow the Republic requires.
Donât think we can survive 10-20 years in current status.
And stop corruption
Why would that be a problem given what it takes for changes?
Term limits AND they cannot vote for their raises, if they vote to increase pay it shouldnât take effect for a minimum of 2 years. This raising their income above cost of living is outrageous
No benefits after serving.
6 years total, no benefits after serving.
Term Limit is necessary with a retirement age for congress. There is no reason why a young person couldnât take over. Why in the world are we allowing these career politicians opportunity to continue to milk the system past a certain age. After so many years as a politician, itâs time to move aside and give the young people a voice of their own. Nancy Pelosi should have retired as speaker of the house several years ago.
Yes, end career politicians 2 terms for Senators and 6 for the house of representatives this would give them more than a President of the United States but equal in both houses of congress.
