There is already a great plan to change our tax structure to encourage companies to manufacture in America, this ensuring American manufacturing jobs. Consider applying a similar concept to intellectual labor. Right now, many US tech and customer service companies outsource staff abroad. We have countless Americans who are already proficient in those roles. For example, say you are a customer of a US based company. You call the company for assistance and you are dispatched to someone in another company. Oftentimes communication is difficult. Another issue is found in the tech sector with IT and development going to other nations, who may not even have the skills they claim. This can lead to disaster if the company is handling sensitive information and/or finance. I’m sure there are other sectors where this is an issue. Please protect American intellectual labor!
I created this policy and I would appreciate any of your feedback.
Excellent point that I’m finding when reading through several ideas posted on this forum. I have multiple posts where I am commenting on this topic as it relates to H1B Visa workers. If you do a search on H1B Visa you will see several of my posts.
To me, I feel like the IT jobs are gone now that they have gone off shore to India.
In addition, H1B Visa workers have taken over IT departments. There is a lot to that situation. I discuss it in detail in my H1B Visa posts. The IT jobs in the USA filled by H1B Visa workers are gone and will never be back for Americans.
It is a false narrative that there are not enough IT workers with specialty skills here in the USA. Companies don’t want to pay the salary for Americans who fill IT specialty jobs. I do the work of 2 to 3 off shore and H1B Visa workers because I work so efficiently. But, on paper it looks like I’m overpaid.
In addition, the time zone difference with India cause IT projects to lose about 25% of time efficiency due to the limited work hours that overlap.
I hope this all get merged with the other policies to be one large effort. From the surface, it looks like H1B visa workers are filling specialty jobs that can’t be filled by Americans. That is simply not true. Americans can’t get those specialty IT jobs because they are given to H1B visa workers or sent off shore to India.
