Senior Citizens Strategic Imperative

Seniors face overwhelming challenges. And the systems intended to protect and serve them are crumbling. Social Security is inadequate for seniors to rely on and has not kept up with the cost of living. Medicare is expensive and drug programs result in debilitating out of pocket costs. Both programs are nearing a breaking point when they will no longer be sustainable in the next 10 years. Long term care, housing, food - seniors are dealing with a myriad of challenges. A comprehensive holistic program to coordinate the needs of seniors would truly add value. Perhaps a separate agency that coordinates services for seniors (similar to VA for veterans) would help with efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of the services that matter most to our senior citizens. And we must identify solutions to address the aging programs that will soon become insolvent. As a newer senior citizen, I would be a valuable member of a team to evaluate current state and viable options.
