Welcome! You are an official Modern Day Muse.
Heads up. An important principle that all Modern Day Muses must appreciate is to understand who you should be directing your ideas to. All people of power are inundated with suggestions that are made by remarkably ignorant people who are entirely focused on their own self-interests. Those very few Politicians in power who are actually interested in solving problems must limit who they choose to ask for advice. It is always a very small number of people. So ask yourself, who does a politician listen to? The answer is the people who give them money. Look up the names of the Congressional Committees that relate to abortion and who the Chair (and vice Chair) persons are. Then look up who their major donners are. Those are the ears that you should be whispering to. This Muse Principle is a derivation of a directive that was first documented by Nicolo Machiavelli in 1532.
THE PRINCE, by Nicolo Machiavelli, CHAPTER XXIII (HOW FLATTERERS SHOULD BE AVOIDED), Paragraph Two
“Therefore a wise prince ought to hold a third course by choosing the wise men in his state, and giving to them only the liberty of speaking the truth to him, and then only of those things of which he inquires, and of none others; but he ought to question them upon everything, and listen to their opinions, and afterwards form his own conclusions. With these councilors, separately and collectively, he ought to carry himself in such a way that each of them should know that, the more freely he shall speak, the more he shall be preferred; outside of these, he should listen to no one, pursue the thing resolved on, and be steadfast in his resolutions. He who does otherwise is either overthrown by flatterers, or is so often changed by varying opinions that he falls into contempt.”
I must add a note of caution. 99% of the suggestions that you offer will fall on deaf ears. And the 1% that is heard will be altered to fit the self interests of the person you contacted. And your existence will never be acknowledged. You must also understand that the reason that politicians do not want to listen to good suggestions is that it is actually against their own self interest to do so.
Can you think of any problem that Congress has solved over the last 30 years? The energy crisis, global warming, abortion, crime, drugs, poverty, education, pollution, terrorism, etc. There is a reason that politicians do not search for solutions. Those politicians who advocate abortion, get funding from people who insist on it. Those politicians who advocate no abortions get funding from the people who insist that it is stopped. As long as the money keeps flowing towards both sides of any issue, those problems will never be resolved.
And I will happily pass your work on.
