Revoke Contraception Begins at Erection Act

Senate Bill 2319, also known as the “Contraception Begins at Erection Act,” was introduced in Mississippi by State Senator Bradford Blackmon. The bill proposes making it unlawful for a person to discharge genetic material without the intent to fertilize an embryo. Essentially, it aims to criminalize certain male reproductive behaviors, with fines for violations starting at $1,000 for a first offense and increasing for subsequent offenses.

I take it you mean “create an embryo” or “fertilize an egg cell”? This bill sounds utterly ridiculous and utterly unconstitutional under this interpretation. For one thing, it appears this would criminalize “certain accidents” that can occur while sleeping (especially for teenage males), and can therefore lack criminal intent. If that is indeed one of the effects of this bill, then this state senator obviously went too far.

For right now the only state that has that law is Mississippi.

You did say this is just a bill at this point though, right? That would mean that it is not yet a law (and must pass the MS House, and MS Senate, and either be signed by Tate Reeves or undergo a veto override to become one).
