Restore our homegrown wheat to its original native greatness.
-
Eliminate glyphosate, all pesticides, and any harmful fertilizers.
-
Undo the Big- Ag hybridization of our wheat which resulted in human gluten sensitivities. The cross breeding of American wheat with Japanese grass strains resulted in uncharted digestive issues.

Remove market barriers to allow the viability of farming Einkorn and Turkey Red wheat flours here in the USA. These are ORIGINAL (from 200 years ago) American wheat strains. Almost all of the supply of the world’s Einkorn flour originates and is sourced from Italy. This flour is superior in nutritional value and gluten tolerance. Currently it sells for $5 per pound with limited availability.
Wheat is the foundation for a huge cross-section of our food supply. It also provides, in its various culinary forms, joy, and comfort, for all Americans.
It must be returned to its wholesome form. This is a sure way to bring back America’s health. It is also a sure way to bring back America’s greatness.

I wonder if it would help to be more affordable for the consumer? Perhaps incentives for all native plants and heritage agricultural breeds (listed on The Livestock Conservancy). #MAHA

@bb41007,
I’m cautious about the methods proposed for restoring American wheat, particularly around the concerns with hybrids. I believe American wheat can be restored, but instead of outright rejecting modern wheat hybrids, we should focus on improving their quality and ensuring they meet health and environmental standards. Hybrids can increase yield and disease resistance, and with responsible breeding practices, we can maintain these benefits while addressing concerns about nutritional content and gluten levels. A balanced approach would incorporate both traditional strains and modern techniques for long-term sustainability.

1% of the population has Celiac’s disease, an autoimmune disorder from the protein found in gluten. I hear first hand accounts of people who DO NOT have any symptoms when eating wheat in Europe. I don’t know the scientific reasons why but it is a red flag. Bc we have to eat gluten free food, our grocery costs are triple the price, it is a serious health risk, and limits our ability to dine out as well. We want to see change in the American food system, and hopefully a cure to Celiac’s disease.

This needs more votes! Like several other Americans, I had to go on a gluten free diet due to it causing GI issues. It’s crazy how people can travel to other countries like Europe and eat the wheat with no problem. But in America so many people can’t because it is super refined and inflammatory. Strangely enough, once I cut out gluten my menstrual cycles became regular again. It’s messing our bodies so badly. Plus, the cost of gluten free groceries is absurd. We want real clean wheat again!!!
