Reform immigration policies

Our immigration process is complex, time consuming, and filled with bureaucracy. My hope is that with an honest conversation we can help our representatives in government implement policies that are humane and beneficial to the country.

There are many different topics regarding immigration that we can cover today I’ll focus on creating a path to citizenship. There are currently millions on illegal immigrants in the country that have been here for 15, 20, 30+ years. Men and women who go to work every day, work hard, raise families, and live knowing that on any given day they could be pulled over for something as little as a speeding ticket and deported. As it stands right now if someone in that situation was to apply for residency they would be told to return to their home country for sometimes up to 10 years before they could apply. The reality is that once in their home country the application process would more than likely get denied.

I propose that if someone has been here in the US for more than 10 years with no criminal record they should be able to pay a fine, apply for residency, stay in the country, and not fear getting deported while the paperwork is in process.
