Reduce corporate burnout with 4 day work week

A 4-day workweek can be beneficial in America for several reasons: better health can lead to less anger.
1. Improved Work-Life Balance: Having an extra day off gives workers more time for rest, family, and personal activities, reducing stress and improving overall happiness.
2. Increased Productivity: Studies show that when people work fewer hours, they often become more focused and efficient during the time they are working.
3. Better Employee Health: With more time to relax and recover, employees may experience less burnout and better mental and physical health.
4. Reduced Costs for Employers: Businesses can save on costs like utilities and office maintenance by having one less workday each week.
5. Attracting Talent: Offering a 4-day workweek can make a company more appealing to potential employees, especially in competitive job markets.

Overall, it can lead to a happier, more productive workforce, and better business outcomes.

Yes! A 4-day work week should be the standard! Who forced us into the 5-day work week? Society can function on a 4-day work week, we can make it happen

Companies are all free to implement that if they so choose :slightly_smiling_face:

This would be great if the standard then became 32 hours as the new “full-time” - 8 hours per day for 4 days.

Anything beyond 32 is overtime that wouldn’t be taxed.

Now that would fix a lot of problems with people’s anger, frustration & mental health.

Absolutely. Europe has been experimenting and they still love it.

Its a capitalist free market. For the federal government to force companies to do this would be what fascism is.

LOL you think companies would do that on their own?? from what I’ve seen and experienced, companies will ALWAYS choose to work employees to the point of burnout as it 100% guarantees THEY get their money’s worth. But the employee is left paying the the true cost of such terrible policy. We need to foster a culture of compassion AND competition. If we have lost sight of the pursuit of happiness for ALL, then we’ve lost sight of the American Dream. We should not be having to live in an environment where the American Dream is making millions just to reach escape velocity to escape the rat race. This is terrible for culture and creates resentment and is 1 of the reasons people vote Democrat! Because republicans immediately default to “pull yourself up by the bootstraps” instead of really understanding what’s happening to the workers in corporate America. We aren’t all small business owners.

Henry Ford moved America from the 6-day work week to the 5-day work week because that’s what his employees wanted. We have so much advanced technology and work efficiency, we should be ready to move to a 4-day work week. In Missouri, where I live, there is a law that requires full benefits for jobs at 32 hours per week and beyond. However, we need to incentivize employers (with tax breaks or something) for offering this to their employees.

I am a mom of two, work full time, have a chronic illness that is exacerbated by stress, found out how bad the public schools have gotten (and I’m in a “good school district”) so I volunteered with other concerned parents to establish a microschool at my church, take care of my home, and still try to make time to be present with my kids and husband. How are the citizens of this country supposed to be involved in revitalizing America when we are all sick and overworked? I was able to get a reduced work week for about a year through FMLA and my health vastly improved, but my employer will not give me a reduced work week outside of FMLA. I’ll attach a meme about how overworked moms are but, instead of working 9-5, most of us are required to work 8-5 and tack on a daily commute.
