This was never an issue a couple of decades ago. Why? It’s not like humans have drastically changed. It would appear that this entire movement is rooted in propaganda (brainwashing) more than in an actual physical or mental disorder.
Should a functioning adult with sound mental capacities choose to undergo such procedures, I agree that a trial period with a counselor etc… should be the way to go so that the individual is fully aware of all the implications involved in this kind of transition.
I think that’s the point. These people need those mental health services.
People believe mental health is not even classified as healthcare and it most definitely should be.
Gender dysphoria is the ONLY ego systolic psychiatric disorder for which professionals suggest the treatment is reinforcing the thought distortion. Every other ego dystonic disorder, OCD and eating disorders, for example, require exposure and response prevention to CHALLENGE the distortion, not reinforce it. If someone is terrified of contamination, for example, we don’t say “just wash your hands more”. In fact, the exposure would be to wash hands less. If someone has anorexia and thinks they are obese at 75 pounds we don’t say “sure just eat less and lose more weight and then you will be happy!” These people need to expose their brain to the stimulus in order to correct the cognitive distortion. Why do we blindly accept gender confusion and distortion rather than challenging it with proven psychological modalities?
I like your thinking. Right is right and wrong is wrong. The two do not change because we don’t like them. We shouldn’t try to adapt to things we know are wrong, nor should we encourage others to do so.
I’m not sure we can stop people from doing this though. God endowed us with the right of free will. No bar whatsoever. Even though He knew we would make some terrible choices, we were still free to make them and to deal with what happened as a result. That’s the trade for freedom. Inseparable responsibility for the rights exercised.
Transgender people are a danger to society my wife was assaulted by one and my wife is a disabled senior we had to go to court for it and he got away with it.
This is a bad idea. I’m not a supporter or fan of the transgender thing, but people should retain their right to be weird. This is America. I don’t see restructuring the English language or creating new rules for bathroom usage, etc. but, some folks go through phases, some more extreme than others. That doesn’t make them mentally ill. I’m not crazy about them and they certainly shouldn’t be afforded any special privilege or funding but, classifying them as mentally ill is troublesome.
They do have the right to do as they like, just not to push the disorder off on others, especially our children.

I think it obviously depends on the individual.
If said individual is over the age as to which their brain is fully developed and or is considered a fully grown adult they should be able to have and wield the right to do whatever they want to do with their body regardless of what others believe.
The government shouldn’t really have any say at the end of the day- unless of course that individual is too young to make the decision for themselves.
same goes for any mandated medical procedure or vaccine, Our right to exercise free speech,
the right to bear arms, etc.

The way you present this is confusing. You do realize that the DSM-5 is the “Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders,” gender dysphoria is considered a mental disorder. I think what you meant was that The American Psychological Association and others no longer classify being transgender a mental illness but rather it’s a normal part of human expression. However, transgenders typically suffer from gender dysphoria, an DSM-5 mental illness and I think that’s an important distinction to make. I think we should leave classification of disorders to the experts who see them, treat them and study them. We can have our opinions and fears but it’s not fair to take that away from the experts due to our own opinions. This is no different than the fears people had about people with mental illnesses in general (1960s-1970s),locked away in mental hospitals because they were different. Girl Interrupted is a wonderful movie and example of this topic w mental disorders.
The school system here in NY told my autistic little girl constantly that she can grow up to be a man. It was evil. They are bad people who do this to children, especially to children who have mental handicaps to begin with. Children deserve protection from these adult monsters.

But an earlier post had a valid point. Do NOT encourage this in any way. No other mental issue is handled by giving in to the delusion. Just this one. Further, this is perpetrated on children too young to have any real comprehension of what they may want long term. They do not know that what they give up can never be regained when they are sterilized and/or body parts removed. That can’t be undone. Those impacts are for life, regardless of the later impact when the delusion fades.
If an adult makes this choice, right or wrong, it’s still their body and their right to make. But being encouraged by anyone at any level is a deep disservice to someone who will most likely regret an irreversible decision later on.

I know people who have been assaulted by a transgender person too. There does seem to be a violent trend among this protected group. That is something that also needs to be considered as a reason for helping these people with this affliction…
Thank you for your concern, and yes we went to court for a restraining order but the judge dismissed it and didn’t let us speak our case that much and my wife is 65 year old and disabled he is 49 and we are praying the Lord will take it for us we trust in God and realized we have a failing court system.
Growing up in the early ‘00s I distinctly remember an increase in “eating disorders.” What many figured out was that many people “suffering” from an ED were actually the victims of social contagion. This was the peak of popularity of starlets like Nicole Richie, Paris Hilton, and Mischa Burton. In many ways I think the increase in hyper sexuality and gender dysmorphia is either a social construct or undiagnosed mental disorder. We really need to get back to teaching our mental health practitioners that there are a million things that make kids feel awkward or out of place while going through puberty.
Mental health should be a much higher priority in our country.
