I myself as a 911 dispatcher would greatly appreciate reclassifying 911 dispatchers as first responders. We are like every other agency Fire EMS and Police. We hear the worst of the worst on a day to day basis. We are the people that go unseen and unnoticed. We would get better benefits and the job would be easier to fill due to people getting those benefits. As of right now everywhere is needing dispatchers there is a major shortage just like any other first responder job and having better benefits would help fill those positions. A bonus would just be being able to say that we are actually first responders and have the title of it.
