Provide public schools with legal standing in regard to requiring proof of citizenship prior to accepting student enrollments. Public schools should be allowed to require that students show proof of legal and full US citizenship prior to the acceptance of a students enrollment request. If full legal citizenship cannot be proven, schools should be allowed to decline the enrollment request, or at least they should be allowed to evaluate the enrollment based on merit and decline enrollment if there is a lack of merit.
School systems are overwhelmed by the influx of illegal immigrants in their communities. Mandated acceptance of these students has multiple negative impacts on the school system’s, their students, and the local communities. Academic performance is impacted due to schools having to slow content for non-English speakers, there is undue financial burdens placed on schools due to having to hire specialized staff to accommodate these students, there is safety risks introduced into the school systems due to the inability to fully evaluate an applicants background, and there is a risk of promoting human trafficking and child endangerment due to homes in the school’s local community hosting multiple illegal immigrants in a revolving door type of environment.
Currently, schools are forced to have two different enrollment requirements: one for US citizens and one for illegal immigrants. The requirements for the latter of these two is unfortunately that there is no requirements at all, and the these students must be enrolled without question.
This lack of enrollment requirements encourages the continuation of increased illegal immigration. It also increases the potential of human trafficking and child endangerment.
