Dedicate part of the federal budget to provide government issued I.D. at no up-front cost to legal citizens, and then require it to vote.
This eliminates the false narrative that requiring I.D. to vote creates too much of a barrier, or is racist/too hard to obtain for minorities.
it costs 20 -50 for an ID depending on the city and state. Give up a few Starbucks, or out to eats and get your own ID. Good grief.
Of course it’s not much money, that’s the point. If the biggest pushback against requiring voter I.D. is that it’s supposedly racist and is a form of voter suppression, then eliminate the basis of the false objection.
ID for anyone (legal U.S. citizens only) who do not have a legitimate driver’s license. They already have a recognizable photo ID. Those who do not have a driver’s license because they do not drive would need a government issued ID card.
