Currently local county governments are implementing huge tax increases on property owners. For example 1 track of timber that was previously taxed at $750 a year has now increased to $10,000 a year. Make it illegal for local county governments to increase taxes on property owners at that rate of increase! It is robbery! They are stealing land from landowners! We need tax relief or we will be forced to relinquish our land! This is theft from the American public! We don’t want to “own nothing and be happy”. That is their goal and it must be stopped!

While I agree there are issues with property taxes, they couldn’t be eliminated without realistic replacement funding for things like emergency services, police, fire, and other required city and county services. In my opinion, schools should be funded in some other manner which does not force people who choose not to procreate to pay for them. Those people do enough for society by not adding to overpopulation. Bureaucracies, by their very nature, grow their scope and budgets. Each item on a property tax bill should come directly from the agency requiring the funding. Those agencies should be forced to use zero-based annual budgeting and also be audited annually by an outside entity. I do agree that elderly homeowners should have reduced property taxes.

Maybe something real expensive (like a casino or something) is moving in, and government-connected goons want to steal the locals’ land so they can sell it for obscene profit.

Yes, I agree with your statement that there is “an issue” with property taxes. The issue is: “IT IS CRIMINAL; IT IS EXTORTION; AND IT IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL”.
As you suggested: "A realistic replacement of funding should be considered – something that does not represent unconstitutional EXTORTION of annual income based on arbitrary and unrealized property values assigned by the States.
Once this wrong is righted, then perhaps the rest of your good suggestions could be applied to the newly replaced LEGAL source of revenue, itemizing where funds are distributed.
Right is right…wrong is wrong. Fix the wrong with a right, instead of making the wrong less wrong.
Its time to replace ILLEGAL annual income extortion taxes on fake inflated property values with some other LEGAL form of community income stream. This way “the issue” is resolved. Reducing it or itemizing it does not resolve it. Replacing it resolves it. We can itemize til the cows come home if that is desired; but only AFTER we replace it with a LEGAL and Constitutional income stream. Seems logical enough.

Please read Amendment 16. The taxing powers are unlimited. In 1913 Amendment 16 allowed government to tax with out restrictions. From that date forward Our tax system has become more tyrannical every day. Amendment 16 is the root cause.
