- More funding for nursing scholarships
- Reimbursement for nursing student preceptorship/mentoring
- Decrease out of proportion reimbursement for non physician services (OT, PT) etc, and increase reimbursement given for nursing care. Nursing is the center of patient care and every discipline relies on nursing to continue the care plan and communicate patient issues.
- Increased reimbursement for nursing should go directly to nursing salaries and promoting the excellence of the discipline
- Time to unify nursing under one degree. It is crazy that PTs need a PhD and nurses who are responsible for ALL the care needs of the individual can be a LPN or have a 2 year RN degree.
- Require advanced nursing programs (NP) to have more hours of medical preparation including diagnostic studies, pathophysiology and less hours on reinforcing the same undergraduate therapeutic communication/sociology fluff.
- Reward (through monitory or ranking) institutions who have dedicated nursing staff vs travel or agency nursing staff. Dedicated nursing staff decreases patient care errors and sentinel events.
