I am a Naturopathic Doctor and I have been working with attorneys on ensuring I am not operating outside my legality. However, the way we define medicine by law makes it practically impossible to practice whether your state calls it legal or not (SC, FL, and TN still call it illegal). The issue for most, whether in a legal or illegal state, is the way medicine is defined. Many states intentionally define the practice of medicine very broadly to include: treating in any manner or by any means, methods, or devices any disease, illness, pain, wound, fracture, infirmity, defect, or abnormal physical or mental condition. These definitions alone create a monopoly for pharmaceutical funded education systems and who they produce to be the only individuals who can give people recommendations on their health. It also further isolates the view of the body, separating physical and mental conditions and their requirements needed to even talk about how those play out in our physiology. This goes hand in hand with medical freedom and freedom of choice. The pharmaceutical industry funding law schools and lobbying lawmakers has led to a much-reduced choice for the American people in even getting input on getting well. The American people should be allowed to choose how they get well: Naturopathy, Acupuncture, Homeopathy, Herbal, or otherwise.
