Research suggests that each additional patient a nurse takes care of increases the chance of poor outcomes! In facilities that do not uphold safe staffing practices patients were 16% more likely to die from cardiac arrest. Nurses are leaving the profession from burnout. Since Feb 2020 adequate staffing decreased 40% nation wide. A federally enforced safe staffing act would not only save patients lives and promote better outcomes, but would also encourage nurses to remain at the bedside. Californias safe staffing practice has proven time and time again that safe staffing saves lives!
