Upon enlistment, military personnel under the age of 21 would be required to complete basic training, postsecondary education or career training, and advanced combat training. The enlistment age for the military is either 18 years old or upon high school graduation, whichever occurs first. Recruits will not be subject to combat service until the age of 21. This provision allows sufficient time for proper growth and development, as well as an opportunity to prepare for life after the military. This ensures that our soldiers are adequately trained and more mentally and emotionally prepared for the challenges they may encounter.
