Members of Congress set their own wages. Instead each chamber should have a set salary based on the median wages of the district/state that they represent.
This would create financial incentive for politicians to increase the standard of living, and industry for their state/district.

This is a worthwhile concept, but I’m pretty sure members of Congress won’t pass a bill to cut their own salaries, so how would such an idea become reality?

Petitioning, and a Convention of the States. An ultimatum by the people, or a ratification by the majority of States is the only checks on Congress that we have.
(there’s a few of these proposals that I should attempt merges with)
