Only 3 states have laws for nurse-to-patient ratios: California, Oregon, and Massachusetts. We need to establish mandatory nurse-to-patient ratios in healthcare facilities to ensure quality patient care, enhance patient safety, and support the well-being of nursing staff. Ratios would be based on department/unit types (Med-surg, ICU, pediatrics, Emergency Department, Labor & Delivery/Mother Baby). Healthcare facilities should submit monthly reports detailing nurse staffing levels and patient census. The health department can conduct annual reviews of compliance and the impact of staffing ratios on patient outcomes. Facilities failing to adhere to these ratios shall be subject to fines and possible suspension of licensure. This bill would aim to promote safe and effective patient care through established nurse-to-patient ratios, ultimately improving health outcomes and supporting the nursing workforce.
Even though Oregon has a law for rn ratio, they still take you over matrix. It doesn’t work.
Nice in theory but it is simply supply and demand. We need more nurses and doctors.
We also need a healthier population to take the strain off healthcare and reduce costs.
You have to get the big money out of congress. To my understanding socialist medical doesn’t work. Long lines and waiting list the horror stories they are saying. However, I’m not sure if that is fear mongering. I can only attest to what I’ve seen here in America. The money driven system is flawed with greed, and I’m am unaware of a solution that would work. The top makes the rules and decisions and it has to be profitable for any business. However, ethical standards are so low is pathetic! That with the crap in our food and interventions is also pathetic. The right to try was singed into law and I witnessed a dr deny that person their right.
This proposition would contribute toward the issue of the lackluster supply of nurses–it would motivate a lot of nurses to work that currently are not working. I believe if this bill were put into place that the number of nurses willing to work would surge.
I agree, a healthier population would curb demand as well, but mega health corporations can’t profit off of healthy people. Therein lies the roadblock for demand.
