Make it illegal for a foreign government to own US land

384,000 acres of farm land owned by China to be vacated and sold or seized. This will enhance security in these areas and allow for self sustainability with food production.

Unpopular opinion perhaps, but I think you should have to be a citizen to buy any property. Because unfortunately if we ban the Chinese government or CCP from buying it, they’ll just have individual Chinese citizens here in our country buy adjoining plots as an easy work around.

I agree, no foreign country should buy up our land. I believe that since we did allow them to buy it, we should repurchase the land, a forced sale at fair market value, though.

I agree 100%

At worst we should lease land like the American Indians do with ownership being retained by the owner.

You cannot ban legal immigrants from buying property. What could be done is to reevaluate immigration policies and apply strict limits to the number of migrants from foreign adversaries.

If you prepared Thanksgiving Dinner over at your house, had all the food out on the table and the places set, and I told you that you need to leave 2 place settings for expectant guests, and they turned out to be a member of the Communist Chinese Party and a Taliban Supreme Commander, how would you feel about that?

So what is the difference if you put the food on the table, or the food is still out in the field? These growing fields are our food BEFORE it hits our tables. We should have no business placing these plots in foreign-owned hands, leaving less food and room at our own tables to feed our families. It really comes down to common sense, doesn’t it? What is a crying shame, is that WE THE PEOPLE have to explain this to our government — that government lands belong to us, not outside corporations and governments. The American People should have first and only rights to secure properties within our own borders, ensuring that the resources on, under, or above those lands REMAIN in America, FOR Americans.

Finally, it should not simply be an issue of discussion…it is much more than that…it is a legitimate National Security Threat. Even a child can figure out the threat level, if a foreign country is loaded with worthless U.S. dollars and there is only a limited supply of valuable farmland to feed a particular country’s people. You dont need to “connect the dots” since they are practically connected anyway.

Exactly. American citizens can’t go buy land in another county that we arent citizens in. Same thing with voting. How are people allowing this shit to happen in America?!

@SocialismIsSlavery mentioned above an issue with those who are legal immigrants.

Thus, @DiveMaster would the better phrasing be focused on US Citizen or Dual Citizen. In this sense if someone has dual citizenship, legally, they would be able to own/purchase land?

Prohibiting non-citizens from buying or owning real estate wouldn’t work. It’s unwise to prohibit Green card holders and legal immigrants from paying their money to buy property in the US.

A legal immigrant is a us citizen.

An illegal alien is not a us citizen

A foreign citizen legally in the US is not a us citizen!

This doesn’t address a foreign corp or business from purchasing property. LLCs are able to purchase property. It only addresses individuals as a purchaser.

I was typing this policy up as well I’ve done a lot of research on it and was putting together an actual bill.
We need to declare imminent domain and take back all the land owned by foreign governments and put foreign nationals on notice that their land will be taken within 6 months to a year. That way they can sell their house or business to an American citizen or they lose it and all is forfeit to the United States. These are only a few ideas plus if there is someone immigrating here legally they must pass the United states citizenship test. If someone is in the process of becoming a US citizen they may have a sponsor that must be vetted and if they fail their citizenship test their land/property is subject to forfeiture.

This way we get our land back that’s already owned and all the land that China is buying up around all of our military bases as well.

I would love to work on a bill like this with others to put together a comprehensive bill that covers all the bases.

This goes for foreign nationals and foreign businesses as well.

Out of curiosity, why not? Where in the Constitution does it give people who are not citizens of this country the right to own property? Genuinely asking because I’m not aware of it giving noncitizens any right to own property.

A legal immigrant is not a us citizen, at least not immediately. It takes at least 5 years for a legal immigrant to live in the US and to go through the naturalization process to become a US citizen.

The US Constitution does not specify who can own property in the USA. It was not written to grant rights to individuals; it was written to limit the powers of the government.

Agreed!! This whole thing is a silent tskeover if our country.

As with many other countries, other governments shouldn’t own land in the US, except for their embassies and consulates. Property that is owned by foreign nationals legally living in the US should be converted to long term leases, allowing them up to 10 years from their first entry date to become a US Citizen. If they do not obtain citizenship in that timeframe they should lose the right to stay in the country and the property will be sold to a US citizen.
