All states should offer record expungement for people who have successfully completed their probation.
Some charges carry a life-long stigma that is damaging to careers and interpersonal relationships, even if the person has changed their life and circumstances for the better.
I do believe that there should be a process and that certain criteria should be met. But this could make a dramatic change in a person’s life, especially if they’ve taken the steps to make positive improvements already.
Some states currently have zero expungement laws, and it is crippling.
