Limit Federal Funding for Colleges to programs that the US Job market actually needs

Federal funding of colleges should be closely tied to the needs of the job market. This would prevent colleges from putting kids in debt for a degree where jobs don’t exist after college. Additionally, this would help resolve the H1B issue because Americans would be able to fill the positions that H1B claims to have a need for foreigners to do.

Limit all Federal funding, let them stand on their own. If they want to offer degrees in basket weaving or buggy whip manufacturing, go fo it, and if you want to pay for it, go for it. Just don’t expect the taxpayers to pay for it.

Well honestly I don’t have a problem with that either, limiting all. I just don’t know if that’s something that would make it through Congress unless it’s done in the next 2 years and would have to have Republicans being a united front. There’s some Republicans in the House and the Senate that probably won’t be on board with stripping the funding altogether. I just figured this is a way to kill 2 birds, that being H1B and wasted spending on worthless degrees. The colleges could still offer underwater basketweaving, it just wouldn’t be eligible to receive FASFA money for it.
