Liberty amendments

For the most part, I agree with Mark Levin that the Liberty Amendments would correct most of the issues that we have with Congress and our federal governement. Here are the list of amendments I propose based on Mark’s book:

  1. Term Limits for Members of Congress

•Limits members of the House of Representatives to 12 years and Senators to 12 years.

  1. Term Limits for Supreme Court Justices and Power for Congress to Override Decisions

•Limits Supreme Court justices to 12-year terms and allows Congress to override Supreme Court decisions with a supermajority.

  1. Constitutional amendment that limits Federal Spending

•Caps federal spending at 17.5% of the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), with exceptions allowed only in times of war or by a supermajority vote.

•Requires Congress to pass a balanced budget each year, limiting the government’s ability to borrow money.

  1. Limitations on Federal Taxing Power

•Repeal the Sixteenth Amendment, which established the federal income tax and institute tariffs to fund the government.

  1. Congressional Authorization for Federal Regulations

•Requires that major federal regulations created by bureaucratic agencies must be approved by Congress before taking effect.

  1. Restoring the Power of the States to Amend the Constitution

•Allows state legislatures to amend the Constitution with a two-thirds vote, bypassing the need for congressional approval.

  1. Protecting Private Property Rights

•Strengthens the Fifth Amendment’s protections against eminent domain abuse by the government.

  1. Requiring Voter ID

•Mandates voter ID requirements for federal elections to ensure election integrity and prevent fraud.
