How About a Genetic Panel Work-up?

I learned a few years ago that there is a genetic test you can have done to see which antidepressant you should take. Brilliant! But why do so few providers offer it?

NEXT: I would like to have a genetic blood panel available for just about everyone, but not just for determining an antidepressant.

I would like it to include an assessment for: Blood sugar, thyroid, depression / anxiety / learning disabilities, sleep disorders, obesity, vitamin metabolism and production, food / additives sensitivities, low blood pressure, rare diseases / disorders to include autonomic disorders, and whatever else.

State by state, altitude by altitude, water quality to include pH, ethnicity and environmental contaminants should all be weighed in.

Sharing the data anonymously for compilation / research would be optional, but I think there could be an incentive like reducing the cost for the data.

Genetic… As in DNA,?

Genetics are way, way overrated. Look at the rate of increase of current diseases of concern: Genes don’t change fast enough to account for what’s happening.
Far more beneficial would be metabolic and physiological understanding of apparent problems. Most of these can be addressed through diet, life style, maybe supplements, maybe non-drug therapies. Most bodies will work quite well if actual needs are met.
The drugs you think you seek are likely to address your symptoms, but not the cause. That untreated cause will continue to tax your system, now also burdened by “side effects”.
