There’s been so many times Americans have watched the house of Congress shut down our government because they were not able to come to a decision. I would like for a bill to be passed That if neither party can come to a decision That will directly affect Americans. Then the power should be giving back to the people. We will vote on it as if it was voting for a President…For example.( Closing the border, Mandating shots, Anything concerning school systems, Or anything to do with Americans children altogether,Abortion rights. And more. After all, you’re making decisions that represent the people.
Democratic voting is a very dangerous thing - it is the exact reason that we do not directly vote for President and Vice President, but we elect “electors” to represent the state as part of the “Electoral College”.
There are a few states (mostly Democratically controlled) that want to eliminate the electoral college and it’s safeguards. If that were to happen, Presidential Elections would basically be whomever Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco support (which as you can imagine, would always be an extreme leftist radical) and all of us in the middle of America would be ignored or outvoted.
The same problem would exist on popular vote referendums.
But there is a method to Override Congress on a Constitutional Level, known as an “Article V Convention” or “Convention of States”, where 34 State Legislatures can call for a meeting to discuss amending (not replacing) the Constitution, and then the amendments that come from that meeting require 38 State Legislatures to approve. This is the way we the people can institute major change.
I don’t know about you, but with the current state of our voting in the Country, I don’t trust the people and systems that are running our elections (that’s a whole other topic of discussion), nor do I want to run to the ballot box multiple times a month to vote on things that should be voted on by the people we elect to represent us.
Yeah, you’re right about that. Seems like something could be worked out, though,
