Healthcare Reform - Integrated process efficiencies and cost reductions

Healthcare medical coverage needs to be assessed, reformed and priced affordable.

Currently, private market and Obamacare options are too costly and are very restrictive in medical coverage with very high deductibles and OOP maximums. Many Americans are struggling to pay these costs along with all their other daily costs (food, housing, transportation, etc.).

  1. General: Our healthcare systems (actual establishments) and medical insurance coverage options are very broken, and not understood well by the common consumers (or providers).
Costs can be eliminated with process and structure improvements.

  2. Insurance companies: have too much control on what medical procedures can and will be covered and at what negotiated costs.
Most plans offered are High Deductible plans (unless corporations have negotiated better PPO/HMO plans with insurance companies).
Insurance companies need to be reviewed for their level of profits and who benefits from those profits (insurance companies, providers, middlemen)
Costs can be eliminated with process and structure improvements

  3. Healthcare providers / facilities: are not well educated on medical insurance coverage and costs, which results in costly prescribed meds and procedures - with a lack of understanding nor care on the final cost to the patient. Many times there are very high surprise costs to the patients.
All providers and facilities should be mandated to transparently publish costs for procedures and medications. At one time (mid-late 2010’s?), this effort was being reviewed and discussed.

  4. Pharma and Prescription drugs: are just too costly.
All age groups struggle to pay for necessary medications, not just seniors on medicare.
There are too many levels of bureaucracy in the Big Pharma processes.
Too many big Pharma levels and people are profiting from these costs at the expense of the consumers/patients.
There is also too much liability protection on the Pharma company, again at the risk to the consumer/patient.
Pharm companies need to held accountable for their risks and damages to consumers, and no longer given amnesty and protection.

  5. Healthcare Providers: are too quick to prescribe medications to patients.
It seems medications are the only solutions to health problems, when other non-med options could be offered.
Providers do not have enough time to spend with patients to really assess their needs. The healthcare world has been driven (regulated) to achieve high through-put metrics vs proper provider-patient care.

  6. Healthcare Providers: need to be “allowed” to work at the top of their licensure.
They are burdened with too many administrative tasks which results with less time in patient care.

Overall, Healthcare should be a TOP priority for the Trump / RFK administration, and addressed quickly. Costs need to be eliminated throughout the entire begin to end integrated processes.
No longer should the consumers/patients be held accountable for these ineffient processes.
