Today, the money obtained by hospital (which is their gross revenue) is coupled with the Insurance coverage of the patient.
Ex: A user without health insurance, hospital gets $100.00 from the user.
A user with health insurance, hospital gets only $40 from the insurance company
A user on medicaid/medicare, hospital gets only $20 from the medicare/medicaid program.
Hospital should care only about its revenue. It is discrimatory to have the differential pricing based on insurance coverage. In addition, I agree with the other members who have promoted transparency in Pricing and Coverage.
Pricing should be available on the website, and it should be possible to know upfront cost of the procedure BEFORE I go to a hospital (especially for elective procedures).
Pricing should be available on the website from various diagnostics companies for every test that they do. This pricing should NOT change based on the type of insurance coverage.
