Gym Membership HSA/FSA without prescription

Use your HSA/FSA without a doctor’s prescription. This should qualify for any gym membership from Global gym, yoga studio, and CrossFit.

Currently you can use your HSA/FSA but need a doctor to prescribe. Otherwise you can be penalized by the IRS. This seems like a pretty easy policy.

Being able to use your HSA/FSA without a doctor’s prescription would allow more people to afford a membership and encourages a healthy lifestyle.

The red tape of getting a doctor’s prescription for a gym membership discourages people from trying to use this option.

This!

Gyms should be used as a prevented measure, not a treatment. People should not have to wait until the health is at an all-time-worse to be given an option to turn it around. People should not wait until they are diagnosed with morbid obesity, diabetes, etc… to finally get access to the gym. Instead, by giving people access to the gym, their health wouldn’t have to deteriorate to a medically life changing diagnoses; people can stop their health from reaching that point months or even years in advance if their gym memberships can be covered by medical expenses.

Amen!!!
Those of us who go to gyms and make healthy choices to avoid a health crisis should not miss out on using benefits to stay healthy.

This frustrates me so much!!!

I want to use my FSA or HSA to cover this membership without a doctor’s note. And I want to buy my supplements without a prescription.

Pet health expenses too (they’re family to most of us)
