Get rid of the Dept of Education. Bring the funds for education to the States and put state and county leader seats to vote of the people. School choice should be part of this process. This will cut the Federal Pork and oversight over what is being taught to our children and save Tax-payer money. Get rid of radical curriculum in K-12. Get sex-oriented reading material and teachings out of K-12, leave this up to parents!!!
This would be amazing but then as I mentioned in a previous post… what happens to the current 1.7 trillion and counting debt outstanding? Does that get written off?
That debt belongs to the United States Corporation.
Then we need to dissolve that too.
They need to audit the curriculum because I learned a very New York City-centric history curriculum through the public school system.
“They”, as in the Department of Education. I do not agree that parents in a community know enough about what should be taught to children to foster a broad and comprehensive education.
It should be a balance, I agree.
I meant that the administration should audit the Dept of Education’s curriculum because of the way history is taught, it leads people to become reactive to that if it is not all-encompassing.
I’m not sure if getting rid of it altogether is the right idea. It definitely needs to be overhauled and reshaped. Get people in there that actually care about our kids learning, and will hold teachers accountable when they screw up.
Our public school system needs a completed overhaul to rid itself of the Rockefeller imposed.curriculum.
I definitely agree that we need to get all sexualized material or radical teachings out of school. Let our children be children. These topics should be up to the parents and out of schools.
As far as the school system as a whole, I do agree that overhauled and reshaped would be better as Keri suggested.
The debt belongs to U.S.Inc. US Inc has been bankrupted. Trump will restore the U.S. Republic as originally created. The debt will be eliminated.
Since American children 100-150 years ago had a much better classic education in community supported 1-room school houses than we do today, we are obviously doing something very wrong. The 6th Grade McGuffey Reader is now post high school. The monolith of the Education Aasociation labor union is a horrific waste of funds.
Many high school seniors graduate without knowing how to read or write. And forget about learning cursive writing or foreign languages. In some (many?) schools, teachers fear getting beaten up by agressive students.
We are a fatherless society. There needs to be workable programs where young men and women are mentored and taught how to be contributing members of society. I have seen this be successful.
The Department of Education is relatively new. It was initiated by Jimmy Carter on October 17, 1979. Although a nice person, he was a disastrous president. Since its inception, American education has drastically gone down hill. America used to have a proud ranking internationally in education, reading, math and science, but we have gone downhill fast. Education is not supposed to be a Marxist brainwashing project.
The education of our citizens is supposed to be at the state level per the constitution. This agency is not beneficial to anyone and should be dismantled.
Trump just announced he will dismantle the DoE. Thank you president Trump!
See Trump’s policy position on this, or my debate with ChatGPT regarding the success of the Department of Education since its inception. It has failed on every single promise it made to improve education. It has made American education the worst when compared to third-world countries. No meaningful comparison can be made with other industrialized nations, including the G16, G8, and others.
The abolishment of the BOE was introduced in bill H.R.938 in Feb 2023. This needs to be removed out of committee onto the house floor for vote.
I think and hope they mean the federal level not state and local levels
No.
Here’s why:
The Department of Education should act as an auditing body that would also
Set base national standards for education IOT ensure all students are learning the same information. Research skills and how to identify valid sources are currently taught as early as elementary school.
Teach intelligence, NOT compliance
States should have control over how their state’s individual history is taught. Whether that clashes with national standards or not, is irrelevant. Students will learn how to effectively research
States should set budgets, and the DOE would verify how that money is spent. Accountability, and oversight.
We need to shrink the federal Department of Education, and increase the authority of state’s Department of Education
The goal is efficiency, not just less spending
Great idea. Let us include minimum standards to what a public education is. Such as: reading, writing, mathematics, us history, world history, English, Civics (how govt works, rights), science (biology, geology, cosmology, physics, chemistry, meteorology), “home economics”, ethics & manners, phys Ed, and art/music. For high school or Jr. High a class on the 2nd amendment and gun training and types of guns. I would love to see, if possible, to have kids in small groups work on farms.
No more social promotion because this robs children of a proper education, and we end up graduating functionally illiterate kids. Shame can be a motivator. If you have too many failing kids, they become their own grade. and should be provided catch up tutoring to get them back to grade. There are reasons why these kids are failing.
Something needs to be done about violent bullying and behavior, which robs kids of their education. One solution is 3 strikes and the guilty are sent to lock down school and a class on ethics and manners. Suspending them is not punishment to these kids, you give them more school with super minimized socialization.
Bring back corporal punishment.
Allow teachers to be armed on the job.
Allow military veterans to volunteer as school security, including events.
Allow schools to have a school pet, such as a cat or dog, one per grade level. This therapy works in prisons, so why not schools?
As kids hit high school, provide a vocational path as an alternative to college prep.
No CRT, no gender studies, no homosexual literature, no porn.
I think the Dept. of Education has gotten too big. The election opened my eyes to how big many of the agencies have gotten that are supposed to serve citizens, not control citizens. I think the emphasis on many of the agencies that were created to support citizens do the opposite. COVID opened my eyes as well to what is happening and what DOE supports; to me not the children based on results we are seeing as a Nation. There is so much wasted money in all of the agencies, I’m sure DOE can be dismantled and states given control. So many teachers are leaving the field for various reasons, bringing this to the states may help. Too many students are being left behind; the current model is not working.
