Foster and Adoption reform

The Foster Care and Adoption process is heavily corrupt. Home visits are not done properly, nor are they done adequately. Privatized homes, especially, misuse allotted money. The ratio between children and ready-to-adopt families speaks for itself, and the adoption process has practically become a money sucking black hole. Children have reportedly been put in homes with known offenders, families who do not speak the same language, etc…

Random, yet quarterly, home visits and interviews should be necessary. Government checks should be regulated in a way similar to WIC- Only spent on set items, food, utility bills, etc… Childrens needs and best interests should be considered when being placed in a home. The adoption process, if without issue, should take less than 2 years, and cost less than $25,000, including background checks and other necessary steps to prove a stable and adequate home life.

Also, we need to ensure that there is oversight for people who decide they do not want a child they have adopted in finding another home to ensure the safety of the child.
