Healthcare employees at every level suffer abuse at the hands of their patients. We work tirelessly to ensure they are receiving the best care possible day in and day out. However, this does not stop patients from physically and verbally abusing the staff assigned to assist them on their recovery journey.
I believe that we as a nation need to create a policy to protect all of our healthcare employees. This change can help prevent high rates of turn over in our medical systems and mental burnout for staff dealing with difficult individuals. Residents/patients have an abundance of relevant right afforded to them and those who care for them have none. This must change.
