As things currently stand, if a farmer passes and the farm is transfered to their children, the children have to pay an inheritence tax on the transfer. Farmers operate or razor thin margins, so when this happens they usually have to sell off land to pay the tax fee. This is leading to the destruction of family farms and must be stopped.
