End DEA Restrictions Causing Drug Shortages

The DEA mandates how many doses of controlled drugs manufacturers can produce each year, leading to drug shortages. They have continued to reduce the supply of pain medications, despite shortages every year. Chronic pain patients, including many ill and elderly, and even surgical patients cannot get their prescriptions filled because of the shortages. Why is the DEA telling manufacturers how many pills they can produce? They have no idea how many doses patients will need in a given year, so their restrictions are arbitrary and leading to pain and suffering. This strategy is ineffective at battling the opioid epidemic, which is worse than ever, and making life miserable for law-abiding citizens with legitimate needs. End this unnecessary meddling in our healthcare.

I agree, give chronic pain patients medication that’ll actually work. The medical professionals are more worried about THEMSELVES getting run over by the DEA & DOJ. Doctors now only care about their own lively hood and kick the patients aside so they don’t loose what they have. The fear the doctors have about the doj has been pushed on to the patients therefore making them suffer.
Where’s people’s rights to receive fair & proper medical care for their federal recognized medical conditions (SSI/SSDI)?
Give people back their medication, Opiods, so people can function like normal Americans…

The drug shortage is extremely frustrating and stressful in my household. My son and I have ADHD/OCD/anxiety, and each month I am rolling the dice to get medication for us. If our normal pharmacy isn’t able to fill our prescription, I have to call all the pharmacies in our area to find our medications. Then pray they don’t run out before our prescriptions are filled. I know people that have had to drive over an hour to fill their child’s ADHD prescription. Unfortunately since we are on the extreme side of ADHD/OCD/anxiety natural alternatives do not work for us. Please end the manufacturing restriction, so the drug shortages can end!
