Standards for students selected for medical and nursing school and postgraduate training, or for any physician, must be the same regardless of race, gender or other social metrics, and include a level of competence measured by academic achievement and standardized tests.
Standards must not include adherence to, or promotion of, ideologies that contradict fundamental Hippocratic principles of medical ethics.
Patients must not be prioritized, or discriminated against, based on their race, gender or any other politically favored, or disfavored, status.
I would stop with eliminate DEI. DEI is discriminatory by definition and we have seen how it compromises the entity. Just a few examples, USSS, Boeing, FEMA. Everything should be based on merit. Equal opportunity not equal outcomes.
I agree in most cases. But organizations must have the ability to make a position only available to a particular sex or race that specifically requires it. Examples:
Domestic violence or rape hotlines and shelters that specifically provide services to women who have requested same-sex counselors/examiners need to be able to reserve those positions for women.
Similarly, disabled women and women in hospitals (the stats on sexual assaults in hospitals is shocking) should have access to same-sex providers. The organizations hiring those providers (including volunteers) must be able to specify sex for these roles.
Another example is a government representative with a role to represent women, or a particular race or group of races, should be represented by someone of that sex or race. Currently, roles for representing women are being taken by men who identify as women. Men, regardless of how they identify, cannot speak for me.
Outside of DEI causing lesser qualified canidates filling jobs, it is also causing a huge non-representative misalignment of trangender, and/or minority workers in the workforce. It doesn"t make sense that my hairdresser now has more transgender folks than womenā¦crazy! It creates an unrealistic view of diversity instead of aligning hires to population percentage.
Anyone qualified should be eligible. No degrees if they can learn to do the job as well as the next one. They could learn the trade as well, we did that in history and this is valuable actually to all upcoming generations. Singling out is just wrong.
Hiring based on race, gender, or sexual orientation is actually illegal as they are all protected classes, but it is not being enforced because of the backwards thinking of our new age leftist white supremacists, who believe certain groups are āless thanā white straight males and that it is a good thing to target them for a job, even if they have to bend their standards or pass up on better-qualified applicants.
Besides that simple fact, leftists argue DEI does not equate to hiring under-qualified individuals, but when thousands of companies are focused on hiring specifically for their trophy black person or trophy non-traditional gender or sexual orientation unicorn for a job that traditionally has mostly non-black or straight individuals, many companies end up bending their standards to acquire that unicorn so they can publish their stats on diversity.
There is a finite amount of individuals are applying for a type of job, especially when the job requirements get more difficult/complicated.
There is generally a normal bell curve that represents the talent levels of the population of applicants, where most people will be near āaverageā in talent, and a lot less will be in the least talented end as well as most talented end. What happens if you group every individual based on race or gender or orientation? Each of these groups will be a much smaller population than the whole, but still have a similar bell curve of talent. These unicorn groups will be relatively small in population, especially when looking for specific races, genders, or sexual orientations that donāt generally take interest in that kind of role or industry.
With the high number of companies focusing on just the small pool of unicorns rather than the entire population of applicants, only a couple companies will end up with the most talented and average unicorn applicants; the rest will still be focused on hiring a trophy employee, so they will higher the least talented ones. If these unicorn traits were ignored, there would probably be enough above average and average talent individuals to fill all of the roles in demand, but because of the dynamics of the high number of companies specifically seeking a black employee for the role, the ones who are probably not capable of handling the job get employed.
The correct action is to focus on improving early education for everyone. Why are elementary, middle, and high schools failing in major cities in areas with majority black populations while being funded the most amount per student? This needs serious review. Culture is another aspect that I wonāt get intoā¦
Agree! As a nurse who completed nursing school and passed my board the first time, DEI does not belong in healthcare. The best qualified candidate should be selected regardless of filling some make believe DEI gender identity politics quota.
No DEI anywhere! People will be empathic if we manage to have a healthy, balanced and educated society. No need to regulate fake empathy or virtual signaling.
Down with DEI!!!
I am not 100%in agreement with all you say, i am however, intrigued by the education link you bring to this problem. I see that the racism of the government that has allowed less education results to be more funded, created the need for the even more racist DEI policies. We need to look at teachers donāt we?
Remove from all government entities. The time we spend ātrainingā and having DEI āidealsā reinforced over and over again does not improve performance, workplace dynamics, etc. The concept of DEI needs to go away but a quick win will be to get rid of the overhead around these training programs/departments/administration of such programs immediately.
This goes without saying, thatās what how theā best person for the jobā meansā¦ For example, if a female counselor will be the most reassuring, she is by definition the best person for the jobā¦
