Don’t punish patients with chronic illness

Unfortunately the opioid crisis and related issues such as the fentanyl crisis has started to affect those with chronic illnesses.
Any bills that attempt to address the opioid crisis should have an exception for those with chronic illnesses. There are already too many regulations that keep people with real pain from getting treatment. Chronic illness patients are treated like drug seekers by doctors and nurses. Now the topic of pain medication has become so taboo most patients are afraid to even bring it up for fear of being labeled. Stop the biases and allow doctors and patients to have real and open conversations about what is needed and the risks associated.
