Dental Care is both health care and mental health

Dental health is our first line of defense against many chronic diseases. The mouth is a part of the digestive system. Our digestive system is often referred to as a second brain simply because our body creates more neurotransmitters in the gut than our actual brain. The mouth is the start of that process. Along with eating foods that are nutritious, and packed with good bacteria/probiotics.

Many people cannot afford to go to a dentist, even when they have “dental insurance” because dental insurance doesn’t cover much!

Health insurance should absolutely be covering dental care. My 21 year old nephew has dentures because dental insurance failed him, dentist failed him.

Health insurance should pay a portion of dental implants for those who have been unfortunate to lose their teeth!

I’ve seen incredible changes in people who had horrible teeth, and an amazing dentist named Dr Kenny actually cared about them enough to save those teeth rather than pulling them out, through the use of crowns.
This dentist has done many pro-bono procedures for people, but he’s only one person. Those who he has helped have had their lives changed and they are thriving, instead of hiding!

Most people could never afford to save their teeth unless they’re wealthy. It’s ridiculous that one crowned tooth costs $1,500.00 or more, even with dental insurance. Most bad teeth could be saved using crowns when you consider that 75% of the tooth is below the gum line!

Dental health is overall health, and mental health, care!

Also, Conglomerate dental offices are the worst!

Everyone should be able to have a beautiful smile regardless of their status!

Omg!!! This would be amazing!! I do NOT know one person, that I’ve had this discussion with that does not agree that dental insurance needs to be better. Oral health can affect physical, mental, and emotional health. I have been trying for years to get dental care, but I can not afford it. I have lost teeth since this, can only chew on one side. Need fillings, extractions, and partial or orthodontics to mange future dental issues. I couldn’t afford it when I had my job and now I have Medicaid and no dentist that has good reviews can get you in with in a year or more!!! That’s crazy!! So YES YES YES let’s please take a look at dental care and insurance

I agree wholeheartedly! If only every dentist could be like Dr Kenny Smiles (look him up on Instagram) watch his amazing transformations, then watch the patients reactions, before & after!
He can be brash in his language, but he’s absolutely brilliant and has an amazing gift!

I have been saying this for years. I’m not sure why dental is not included in medical as many health issues stem from dental problems. Just to name a few: cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer’s (yes a study has shown a link), kidney disease, diabetes, malnutrition, respiratory infections. The list goes on. The cost of dental procedures have skyrocketed leaving the majority of citizens unable to afford even the basics such as cleaning. Thank you for bringing this topic into the forum!

Of course  it’s so true! The diseases that stem from dental issues are numerous, including alzheimer’s!

It’s definitely something that would improve the overall health and mental health of countless Americans! I hope they see this thread and give it real consideration :pray:t2: Imagine how many people would feel better about themselves, feel better physically, feel better mentally, and the confidence that would enable people to thrive in the home with family, friends, and in the workplace with coworkers. Real confidence is a natural motivator!
