With how many states have legalized cannabis for recreational use and the health benefits proven by research there is no need for anyone to be serving any sentence for possession of cannabis. The growth in the economy for majority of our states to experience with the ability to grow cannabis and keep sales local in the states puts money back in the middle class.

Take note that there are states that have also voted against the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Also, the narrative surrounding the supposedly ‘harmless’ nature of marijuana has become increasingly warped.
In Montana, cannabis taxes do not go to the middle class or our schools or healthcare, $6 million went straight to the Heart Fund account, which is an initiative helping people heal and end addiction through recovery and treatment.
After the heart fund gets their piece of the pie, the remainder of the funds get divvied out like this:
- 20% goes to Montana FWP (Fish Wildlife and Parks)
- 4% goes to the state parks
- 4% goes to trails and recreational facilities
- 4% goes to non game wildlife
- 3% or $200,000 (whichever is less) goes to Veteran Affairs
- $150,000 goes to Crime control and crime team training
- The remainder goes into the general fund
