Creating Fair Rules on Campaign Advertisements for TV, Social Media, and Radio

“I believe it’s time to address a critical issue at the state level: the current state of political advertising, especially on platforms like TV and YouTube. This election cycle, I’ve been struck by how many political ads rely solely on slander and character attacks rather than presenting meaningful solutions or showcasing a candidate’s true qualifications. Too many of these ads are paid for with the sole purpose of tearing down an opponent, often without any credible sources or even disclosing who is funding the message. If a candidate’s campaign strategy revolves around attacking others rather than promoting their own merits, it’s a clear sign of weakness. Political advertisements should focus on what makes a candidate the best choice for the people, not on spreading negativity or division. We deserve a system where campaigns are centered on ideas, integrity, and respect, not on defamation and misinformation. It’s time to make this a state-level priority and put an end to the cycle of toxic political ads.”
