Options include things like Aquaponics, Hydroponics, greenhouses, and community gardens. These need to be encouraged and/or mandated and include funding at Federal, State and local levels to ensure greatest participation. This would help in various areas like making food available in “food deserts” or inner cities that don’t have enough grocery stores; improve the quality of the food in all areas, like nursing homes and schools; help reduce carbon footprint; create jobs and training opportunities and lower the cost of the food. Most importantly, it will help people make healthy food choices because the choices will be available.
