Call a Convention of the States to Limit the Scope, Power and Jurisdiction of the Federal Government

Currently every state is in dependancy upon Federal incentives and thereby control. Similar to a person stuck in the welfare vortex. No monies should be exacted from the people of a state by Federal tax and Social security tax, then used to control the state. The largest of which is used to destroy families by a $trillion/yr generated from billions in Federal Grant and Title incentives via family court/foster care. The incentives are initiated via fraud and allegation apart from merit or due process “irrevocable” and traverse down across the Fed/state divide through the state to the Fed defined “local community” i.e. all the actors in your judicial district who know how to initiate and maximize amount and duration of federal incentives in concert by exploiting broken families and most unconscionably children. This single fund generates more than all others combined feeding and funding bureaucracy and corruption by harming families, community, state and nation. It is highly protected top down socioeconomic system blocking all redress. I see it as the #1 national threat by enemies foreign and domestic…today they can and do enter households and remove children without warrant or cause because each removal = huge incentives $$$. Your child could be next! This culture war, then this is the enemies coffers.

An amendment is desperately needed from the states to remove themselves from harm and dependancy by funds exacted from them, and supplied back as control.
A Convention of States is probably the only way to do this. And the only way to restore our Constitution and We The People from current reality as doormat status to supremacy. As the people band together and states join We become the United force necessary to overcome generated division and stand as one nation again.
If it doesn’t happen it may very well be our last opportunity to restore supremacy status and the liberty it affords. Time to put what our founders called “the necessary evil” back in its Constitutional cage.

With the exception of term limits, the rest of that is already restricted by the Constitution. Also the rules of a convention of the states are very strict, you may only discuss and act on the original listed reasons for the convention. There’s no adding issues.

In Article V, our Founding Fathers made the States responsible for amending the Constitution to reign in an out-of-control federal government. Now is the time to implement this Article V provision.

Here’s the thing with calling a convention of the states: once it’s started, the entire constitution itself is open to being discussed and changed. 2nd Amendment? Now open to being outright appealed if a California or New York Delegate proposes such a thing. Constitutionally enforced ban on hate speech, or a repeal of the 1st Amendment in its entirety? Also a possibility. Constitutional ban on government regulation of marriage? (This is something I could get behind actually) Open for debate. Anything any state delicate could possibly think up or be asked to put into motion by their state legislature would be ripe for the pickings. As a result a Constitutional Convention could easily result in Amendments we do not want to have as a people if we aren’t careful. It could easily result in things being worse for us overall, so think VERY carefully before we seriously push this…

These are the same geniuses that included Article V so we could get the out of control federal government back where it belongs. This negates your own argument about a Convention of States. We need this and the genius of the framers knew we would.

Our founding fathers knew that greed, power and control would permeated the federal government if they became too powerful and too centralized. Article V was placed in the Constitution for a time such as this. God help us all to pray for this convention to happen as quickly as possible before we lose America to communism. If we don’t put this plan into place, the enemy will put their plan in place. This is our hope for the future and our civic duty for a peaceful nation. State legislators must act as quickly as possible and take the reins back to place the power of government for the people and with the people.

Educate yourself, Nehu. It’s not a “proposal”. It’s part of the Constitution. The only mandate in the entire Constitution given to state legislators.

A governor is essentially the president of his/her state. Being that the states are united, it does seem fit and proper that those leaders gather at regular appointed times. Even if it’s once a year for a weekend, the governors should be discussing relevant issues. The governor of Maine might not think there is much to discuss with the governor of New Mexico but I tend to think otherwise.

The federal government isn’t EVER going to stop spending our money or regulating our lives!

The Framers gave the States the right to call a convention for such a time as this! Unless the states call a convention to propose amendments, “no amendments of the proper kind would ever be obtained by the people, if the Government should become oppressive.” (See Madison’s notes 15 Sep 1787)

It’s time for the states to propose amendments! Call the convention!

Proposed Amendment: Acts–One Subject–Expressed in Title
Every act shall embrace but one subject, and matters properly connected therewith; which subject shall be expressed in the title. But if any subject shall be embraced in an act which shall not be expressed in the title, such act shall be void only as to so much thereof as shall not be expressed in the title.

What are you talking about? What “illegal” actions? BTW, this is not the place to be discussing that, it’s not what the COS is about!

A convention of states could be a good thing if its done in the right way by the right people, but if bad actors are involved they could literally override our entire constitution, so calling for a convention of states should not be taken lightly.
With the level of corruption in both local and state politics this idea could be weaponized against the people that want it.
This could literally be the death of our country if this happens.

Obviously brave enough to sign their names and move forward.

While I am a donor to Convention of States, it should be cautioned that a convention could get hi-jacked and cause as much damage as good. States should pass individual laws that mandate the specific issues, language, and votes allowed by their delegates to the convention.

The time for a Convention of States is long overdue. Congress will never relinquish the power it has usurped in the last 50 years.

Our out-of-control Federal gov. is never going to vote itself less power and will therefore continue to spend wildly and act outside its constitutional bounds. People should not be getting rich from a lifetime in “public service!” It’s time for the people to say “No more!” and call a Convention of States! We will demand term limits for Congress and unelected bureaucrats, much needed fiscal responsibility, and stop the government overreach. Our brilliant founders knew this day might come, and so they gave the states and the people this power under Article V! Never more needed than it is TODAY! Let’s make it happen!!

The Article V Convention of States group, with Mark Meckler as it’s leader IS the right organization too support for this purpose!
Check it out COSAction and please seriously consider signing the petition.
In addition to all the work COS is doing in every state through its grassroots volunteer networks, they have created not just a framework for the Convention itself but also -and perhaps even more importantly- they’ve got a set of guidelines for each state to consider as legislation the direct each State’s delegation, under penalty of law, to, in fact, follow the directives and the intentions of that State’s own legislative objectives.
This will go far too prevent the very concerned you’ve expressed in your post!

I absolutely agree, the federal government needs to be reigned in, and a convention of the states is a powerful message that we want change.
