Call a Convention of the States to Limit the Scope, Power and Jurisdiction of the Federal Government

But it’s ok for Congress to PROPOSE amendments?

The convention of states is the only way to bring power back to the states and its people.
You shouldn’t make government your career. Go do your 2-6 years then go back to your home state and work on making it a better place. Abraham Lincoln did it. And trust me today’s politicians are mot worthy to be compared to him! Some politicians have been there 30-40 years and haven’t done anything except get rich.
If I have to come in on my household budget then why should my government be any different? It’s our money they are playing with.
I want the government out of my health care unless the rules that apply to me, apply to thee.

The founders in their wisdom specifically put this “backdoor” clause in Article V to allow the states to amend the Constitution in a way that bypasses Congress. We should not be afraid to call a Convention of States! Any proposed amendments must still be ratified by 38 states. Now is the time for We The People to exercise this “check” on the federal government.

In the current state of affairs of our nation and the vitality of its existence for the future to remain a Republic we need to have a Convention for the purposes of reigning in the government from federal overreach, implement terms limits, and fiscal responsibility.

Voting does not even move the needle these days. Luckily there are some real Patriots willing to step into the breach. I think that an Article V Constituitional Convention around these ideas would do much to reduce to the size, power and scope of the federal government. The fact the US Government is the single largest employer in the United States must have our country’s founders rolling in their graves. Let’s do something about it.

The article V process brought U.S. citizens the right to arm and protect ourselves and family members, our property, our right to worship the way we choose, it gave women the right to vote, the right to peacefully assemble, the right to a fair trial, it gave us the 13th 14th and 15th amendment that enabled all U. S. citizens the right to participate in self governance, so many things most people just take for granted. What COS is trying to do is take this process out of the federal governments hands and give it to the grassroots. COS has teams in every state capitol. We talk to state leaders to explain and perfect the process of applying for an article V application. Everyone please help us save America!

An Article V Amendments Convention will get the states talking in a civil discourse about ways to restore the balance of power back to the states while reigning in federal tyranny. Limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government: Abolish the federal Dept. of Education, put school lunches under the control of the states, not the Pentagon, dismantle the FBI and ATF which are both unconstitutional. Term limits: We need term limits on congress to prevent them from making politics a career. We need fiscal restraint: We need a spending cap that limits to a certain amount over GDP.

Agree with the thrust of what you said, but a “Convention of States” scares me! HOW do you keep CA and NY from gaining control? HOW do you keep the “Woke” from gaining control? You KNOW they will lie, cheat, and steal! I fear that the result will be just the opposite of what we wish!

The Federal Gov’t will NEVER limit it’s own power. It’s up to WE THE PEOPLE!

Keysboy the COS resolution is already set in stone. There are 3 issues see Mark Mecklers post above. We have 19 states that have already agreed to the 3 issues, so Cal. or NY could not try to insert any thing different. They could start their own article V resolution, however they would need to find 32 more states to agree with them. I just don’t see that happing!

These are real concerns, of course and there are solutions to avoid them.
On is the 38 Ready program that supplies a framework to each State Legislature. Look into it, please. You’ll find that it provides a detailed structure that each State Delegation must agree to our be in violation of it’s State’s laws (if enacted as a precursor to forming a Delegation prior to any Constitutional Convention).
Seriously, this organization is really thinking this through and being very smart about how to get it done the best way conceivable!

I’m sure glad the founders were not “scared”. Article V outlines how to PROPOSE amendments. Part A is Article V says Congress can PROPOSE amendments. Part B says the states can PROPOSE amendments.
You’re not scared of Congress PROPOSING amendments @Keysboy?

Not quite exactly right … the idea that the resolutions are “set in stone” is not exactly accurate.
First, wording for the actual proposed amendments would be hammered out by the Delegations … that will be a process that will involve great discussions and careful rhetoric to nail down just exactly how specific and clear each Amendment will be and to be certain it would succeed against Judicial Review.
Second, every State Delegation will have input into this process and we may find that some “rogue” states could try to force some of the proposed resolutions off the table completely by undermining consensus. It certainly seems unlikely but it could be a real possiblity. The 34 Ready agenda may be critical in minimizing any of these types of risks but more people need to understand this and more States need to enact specific Delegation controlling legislation to ensure real compliance with each States articulated policies and agendas.
Third, if the Delegates get mired down on one of the proposed Amendments, there must be a willingness to move forward with those that have enough support to bring out of Convention and into the Ratification Process. Otherwise, there is the risk that the Convention could be filibustered to the point of collapse.
These are just a few ideas that have come up and I’m sure there are numerous others. So, to suggest that anything is “set in stone” is something we who truly support COS should be very very careful about saying.
Comments welcome!

We need to do almost the opposite of this. The fed needs to remove the current leadership of Florida and Texas to address various illegal actions and reckless endangerment of citizens.

From what I’ve read, Ericka_Lenk-Hatfield, the Founders were indeed “scared”! Frightened, quite literally for their lives since they could just as easily all have been captured, arrested and tried as traitors to the Crown. They literally, pledged their health, wealth and “sacred honor” to the cause of creating a Government of, for and by the People.
They were terrified - but they faced those fears and courageously stood on their principles and heroically braved the consequences that could have destroyed them.
We need that same courage today though few, if any of us, are likely to be at risk of our very lives for our own commitment to this cause.

Maybe should have been more clear. the planks are 1.Term limits, 2.Imposition of fiscal restraints on the federal government and 3.Imposition of Scope, Power and Jurisdiction Restraints on the Federal Government they are broad so that a real discussion can be hashed out of course, but if some state brought up the (2nd amendment) they would be out of order, and possibly in legal hot water per 38 ready.

Article V is an inherent constitutional right of every Americann given to us by our Founders. We need to all ask our states to do this NOW! The federal government is out of control failing us in protecting our nation by allowing an invasion and aiding the enemies of our republic, ruining our economy for its own personal gain, making themselves rich and robbing our children of their inheritance, their health, and personal liberty. It’s time for the states to hold it accountable using the constitution to take their power back.

An Article V Convention is OUR constraint on a Supreme Court that has interpreted items to liberally. Some of the most important Amendments will be clarification of language to reduce the likelihood of future misinterpretations.
