Time for the state legislators to step up and use the numerous and indefinite powers as our agents. Often it is forgotten that we have a compound government consisting of the federal and 50 state governments. Federal government powers are few and defined. Article V, to call a Convention of the States, to the solution. Before it is too late our states must act now. We the people are the sovereign. The state legislators are our fiduciary agents!
Call a Convention of the States to Limit the Scope, Power and Jurisdiction of the Federal Government
It is essential that elected officials, when voting on legislation, bills, and court cases, are required to hear both sides of an issue rather than leaving prematurely after posing their questions. As representatives of the people, they have a responsibility to be fully present during proceedings, ensuring they make informed decisions based on all relevant facts. Too often, members of Congress and the Senate engage only briefly, without truly listening to opposing viewpoints. To enhance accountability, all officials should be required to attend and actively participate in these discussions. This would ensure decisions are made based on a comprehensive understanding of the issues at hand, rather than personal agendas or ideological biases. Greater transparency in the actions and the physicality of our elected representatives for actually being present. would promote accountability and ensure they are fulfilling their duties to their constituents.
Then your argument would stand for Congress and the Senate as well. They could add enough amendments to rewrite the document today. You’re forgetting that any amendment must be ratified by 3/4th of all the states, 38 states. Bad amendments wouldnt stand a chance. It only takes 13 states to stop a proposed amendment. Each state that has passed a Resolution to call for an Article V convention has limited the scope of the amendments called to 1. Limit the overreach of the Federal govt 2. Balance the Budget with common fiduciary controls, 3. Term Limits for federal legislators and appointees. Anything else is non-germain and several of the resolutions calls for prosecution if any of their commissioners attempt to propose an amendment outside of these topics.

This Convention of States is the ONLY way to definitively put the Federal government back in its rightful place - to serve the States and the People!
This would be the biggest win and lesson for Americans to learn our Constitution and never let our Rights be infringed upon again!

The article V Convention of States needs a national campaign to educate the People to stand up for themselves because they HAVE to learn #WeThePeople are the ones that are responsible for our own freedoms solely from the ability to stand up for our Rights born of the Constitution.
The Constitution needs to be taught in school, to our law enforcement and military and ALL public servants that swear to uphold it should have to pass a test on the Constitution before obtaining office!

Our founding fathers wanted “we the people” to be able to protect ourselves from a tyrannical government, so just prior to the ratification of the U.S. Constitution George Mason brought this concern on the debate floor. All unanimously voted to include article 5’s, 2nd clause. This is “we the people’s” best, legal, and civil way of using the constitution to fix it.

Article V itself limits the power and authority of the convention of the states. It requires 2/3 (34) of the states to call the convention. The convention can then only propose amendments; each proposed amendment must then be approved by 3/4 (38) of the 50 states. These are purposely very high bars to be met before any amendments can be enacted.

We don’t need career bureaucrats that have more vested in their own self-interest than in the people they claim to serve. They need to consider it a sacred responsibility and not a guaranteed paycheck. “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.” Eph 5:15-16 ESV.
Jesus said to count the cost of being his disciple. The same goes for temporal matters. “For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’ Or what king, going out to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and deliberate whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? It’s clear from Deuteronomy that the people of the Lord are to lend and not borrow as they follow his commandments. The federal debt is thus a violation of God’s word and shows that the leaders are more interest in taking credit for their programs and letting others pay for that later. “The LORD will open to you his good treasury, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hands. And you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.” Deut. 28:12 ESV
Finally, the Federal Government is way too intrusive. Government is made for man, not man for the government. Those in power have wanted for too long to have others trust in them instead of the Lord. They print and borrow money for buying votes and to promote themselves. We need sound currency that is tied to gold and silver – tangible forms of money recognized for millennia with intrinsic value. Fiat currency can be “printed” out of thin air by central banks on a computer screen and further manipulated at will.

I really hope COS happens. The level of infestation of greed, fear and lust into our Government and almost every governing authority in the country is so great not sure if it can be corrected until the return.

Increasingly the Federal government/bureaucracy is becoming a destructive force upon individual liberty. While the states do not always preserve individual liberty well, I would much rather that power and authority be removed from Federal officials and returned to the States and to the people. Accountability, accountability, accountability!

I couldn’t agree more, Mark, but with one caveat - no term limits on Senators or House Reps until we can get legislation curbing the Citizens’ United unlimited corporate cash as “free $peech”.
The federal government has overstepped its constitutional boundaries and a Convention of States could help restore the balance of power between state and federal authorities. We are a Republic, not Authoritarianism!

….which is precisely why we need to use the tools provided by the Constitution in order to force the out-of-control government back under its constitutionally-intended limitations! Ie., we need a Constitutional Convention.
This is the best way to bring our country back to its original design.
An important and necessary step to restore the balance of power between the people and our government. The expectation that government growth is necessary to solve our problems is misguided, unnecessary, expensive, and will ultimately curtail personal liberty.
This nation has lost its bearings in a sea of icebergs. It is time to get back on course!!!
